Traditional Natural Dyeing Materials Used in Greece from the 19th Century Onwards

Textiles and clothing were still are an important source of culture as well indicator a robust economy social status. Textile household goods heirlooms, providing valuable information about the standard living, socio-political events, cultural influences regions from which they originate. This paper presents preliminary results research project dealing with traditional natural dyes used in Greece for decoration garments 19th century onwards (from until mid-20th century). The aims to identify record all different plants dyeing techniques during this period also propose non-destructive methodology study dyed textiles order facilitate their preservation.
